Program Description
Students who enter the Intensive English Program midsemester enroll in the 8-week English program. The program curriculum includes two courses levels: upper and lower.
Program Structure
In each level of the program, students take English language courses that focus on building students’ skills and expanding their knowledge of U.S. culture. Students practice reading, writing, listening and speaking in the morning. In the afternoon, students participate in classroom and on-campus experiential learning activities organized around a different theme each week. During the program, students will take*:
- 5 hours: Reading and Writing, focusing on high-interest topics.
- 5 hours: Speaking and Listening, providing the skills to be successful in and out of the classroom.
- 10 hours: Topics in American Culture, focusing on themes such as movies, music, sports, and literature and involving events or visits to local cultural or historical sites.
Total Weekly Program Hours = 20
*This schedule may be adapted for the summer semester and/or based on student needs.
