The University of the Pacific Intensive English Program (IEP) helps you improve your English-language proficiency in writing, reading, speaking and listening to meet your academic, personal and professional goals. The UOPI, English Language Institute, provides rigorous, student-centered English language instruction that fully prepares international students to succeed in their university studies. It creates a welcoming environment for both learning and living in a new culture, where all feel safe and supported. The UOPl ELI is dedicated to maintaining best practices in TESOL instruction and building sustainable educational programs through regular review and improvement.

Varies based on students' English scores. Students could be required to take 1, 2, or 3 sessions of English before progressing into their Accelerator Program.

Extended Accelerator Program or the Master's Accelerator Program
Entry Requirements 
Students who score at or below the scores listed below will be placed into Pre-Sessional English. The number of semesters required will be determined based on their English proficiency.

General English is not part of an academic track. Students may enroll in General English courses to strengthen their English language skills for social and cultural settings.

The University of the Pacific UOPI English Language Institute is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period August 2020 through August 2025 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions.
