This Fall 2019 semester, UOP International welcomed a total of 148 new students. This total includes 95 undergraduates and 53 graduate students at the Stockton, San Francisco and Sacramento campuses. With the majority of our admittance flying in from China, India, Vietnam, Pakistan and Myanmar, we are also honored to have students from countries such as Spain, Ukraine, Paraguay, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Taiwan, China (Hong Kong) and many more!

Students are able to pursue their passions through the many paths that the university has to offer. Most of our Fall 2019 cohort are either entering Pacific’s Eberhardt School of Business, the School of Engineering and Computer Science or are studying their master’s in Data Science at our San Francisco campus. Students are also entering in various diverse majors of study such as Media X, Economics, Psychology, Chemistry, Graphic Design and Sport Sciences.

Orientation week was an eventful time of settling in, becoming familiar with Pacific and the U.S., opportunities for socialization and having fun! At the Stockton campus, a shuttle van took students to Target to shop for their necessities in order to start their journey here at the University of Pacific. On move-in day, T-Mobile and Bank of America were able to further assist our students with setting up U.S. SIM cards and bank accounts for a smooth transition to life here in the U.S. UOP International also brought in private masseuses — with the intention of giving students and their parents a free, relaxing massage after a long and hectic day of traveling and moving in. Throughout the week, students also played games such as Jenga, Connect 4, Twister and video games including Just Dance, FIFA and more! UOP International also held a welcome dinner for the students. University of Pacific’s interim president and the deans of multiple colleges were in attendance.  Deans and program directors were able to introduce their individual schools and formally welcome our students to the university. On the final day of orientation week, a Luau themed party was hosted. There were Hawaiian foods, and numerous events were planned for a day of summer fun! Students had a blast playing beach volleyball and limbo and other games in the office.

The San Francisco orientation welcomed its first cohort of MS Data Science students. To help students transition into their new city and graduate program, Associate Student Services Director Jasmin Stewart facilitated a weeklong orientation for the students that included campus partner presentations. The orientation included academic sessions in which students registered for courses as well as a lecture by the Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Carlton, on graduate student expectations and university policies. In addition, students took an extensive tour around San Francisco, starting with a traditional family-style dinner in Chinatown and finishing off with a bus tour looking at tech companies (i.e, Twitter, Uber, Yahoo Sales, etc.). Overall, it was a great student experience and we are off to a great start for the fall!

The Pacific team is thrilled to have our Fall 2019 cohort students on campus, and we want to send a warm welcome out to all of our new Tigers! Experience Pacific and learn about all of the benefits of being a Pacific student!
